Vision
'Vision' is about what we see. Vision for St. Peter's is not so much what we see now, but what we see in the future. Our vision is not about how we see our church, but about how we see our community. More to the point we believe the vision we have is how God sees our community in the future. When we were praying about this as a community a particular verse in the bible seemed to stand out to us:
Zechariah Ch 8 vrs 3-5 This is what the LORD says: "I will return to Zion and dwell in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the LORD Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain."
This is what the LORD Almighty says: "Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with cane in hand because of his age. The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there."
These bible verses applied to Jerusalem, but we believe that God wants us to pursue the principles in these verses for our community of Broadwater in Stevenage. We ended up with this statement, this dream, or vision that Broadwater will be "a community based upon Truth, where the elderly may live to a good age and be respected, and where children can play freely and be valued." And this is what we as a church are working towards.
